He along with Dr. Damras Tresukosol ran this seminar which included 2 days of lectures and 3 days of live interactive peripheral cases demonstrations.    Neil E Strickman MD was an invited speaker for the second annual Endovascular Summit at Jackson Hole Wyoming. This conference featured an update in Peripheral Vascular medicine. Special attention was made to the in depth discussions of carotid stenting, aneurysm treatment, and renal artery disorders. Dr. Gerry Dorros, one of the pioneers of vascular intervention now lives in Jackson Hole and thus he was honored for his medical ingenuity encompassing 20 years of experience.

June 2004

   Dr. Ali Massumi MD and Neil E Strickman MD attended the 14th International Congress on Electrophysiology entitled "Cardiostim 2004" in Nice, France. New information on helping patients with congestive heart failure with pacing devices, life threatening heart rhythms, and treatment of atrial fibrillation were presented. Dr. Massumi is the chief of Electrophysiology at the Texas Heart Institute/ St Luke's Episcopal Hospital. He has over 30 years of cardiovascular experience in this field and is world renown.

 Dr. Stainback has been elected to serve on the Membership Committee of the American Society of Echocardiography.

March 2004

Dr. Raymond Stainback was elected to the Board of Directors for the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL). This organization administers credentialling and quality recommendations for cardiac ultrasound (echocardiogrphy) laboratories throughout the United States. He will represent the American Society of Echocardiography on the ICAEL board for a 3 year term. ( http://www.icael.org/icael/index.htm)

      During the last week of February 2004, The Egyptian Society of Cardiology invited a handful of specially chosen physicians from the Texas Heart Institute / St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital to participate in a 3 day conference on the newest advances in cardiology 2004.

DELTA CARDIO 2004 was a tremendous success. Dr. J Michael Wilson presented topics concerning the biologic and chemical factors concerned with heart disease and more specifically heart attacks. The entire crowd of > 500 attendees asked many questions to Dr. Wilson as he explained the role of blood platelets to heart attacks. His candor and unique style of education was greeted with thunderous accolades.

Dr. Neil E. Strickman continued on his Peripheral Vascular World Wide Educational tour as he updated all the Egyptian physicians on the status of both Carotid Arterial Stenting and Endovascular Treatment of Aortic Aneurysms.
"It will not be long before we can safely say that non surgical treatment of many cardiovascular problems will be first line therapy" Dr.  Strickman expounded.

After lectures, the physicians were able to see the fascinating history of Alexandria, Egypt the former capital. Many kings and pharaohs ruled this land over 3000 years ago.

The el Salamek hotel has played home to many foreign dignitaries through out time.The Mediterranean Sea and all of its beauties are easily seen in this photo.

King Tutenkamen was the most famous ruler of all time in Egypt despite his age < 20 years old!

Also in February 2004

The Current Concepts in Cardiology (Feb 2004) meeting is the largest annual Cardiac meeting in Houston, Texas concerning updates in interventional cardiology.

 Each year the Texas Heart Institute along with the other large hospitals in Houston and San Antonio gather to share ideas with both local and foreign physicians.

Dr. Neil E Strickman gave advanced notice to all that the approval of Carotid Stenting for neck artery blockages is imminent!; and that the surgical treatment of this disease will soon be tack a back seat to interventional stent implantation just as has occurred with heart artery blockages.

Live performances of difficult heart and blood vessel interventions were done daily by Dr. Strickman, a leader in this field.
